Fugitive arrested for death of Mililani man
Honolulu police on Wednesday arrested a 25-year-old man on a $150,000 bench warrant in connection with the 2017 unprovoked fatal attack of a 51-year-old man in Mililani.
Police arrested Shane Dilwith upon his arrival at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport after he was extradited from Arizona on a manslaughter charge involving the death of Thomas Morikawa Jr. of Mililani. Dilwith’s arraignment is scheduled for Monday at Circuit Court.
Police said Dilwith assaulted Morikawa at Jungle Juice Market located at 95-020 Waihau St. on the night of Dec. 8, 2017. Emergency Medical Services treated and transported Morikawa in critical condition to a hospital where he died on Dec. 15 from head injuries sustained in the assault. Five days later, an Oahu grand jury issued the bench warrant for Dilwith’s arrest after he was indicted with manslaughter.
