The Hawaii County Police Department is requesting assistance in locating a suspect who is wanted in connection with a robbery at a Hilo store.

The robbery occurred at 1:30 p.m. Friday at a store on Hinano Street. Police reported that a female clerk told them that she was sprayed with pepper spray by a male suspect who had taken a money bag from her store. Police said the suspect was reportedly wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and black gloves, as well as a black mask that covered his face.

In other police business, Christopher Allen Wright, a 56-year-old Kau man, was arrested Wednesday for a criminal contempt of court warrant at an Ohia Drive property in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision. He also was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary after investigators linked him to an Aug. 9 break-in at Palm Parkway residence. Police charged Wright with one count each of first-degree burglary, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In an unrelated case on Tuesday, Hawaii island detectives executed a search warrant at a Kamuela residence and arrested and charged a juvenile male, who was wanted on an outstanding all-points bulletin and bench warrant.

During the incident, police also arrested 48-year-old Felicia Bissell and charged her with custodial interference in the second degree, allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a motor vehicle, hindering prosecution in the second degree, and false reporting of an accident.
