The American Athletic Conference hasn’t had to debate much about its weekly football award.
For the third time in four games this season, UCF’s McKenzie Milton was named the conference’s offensive player of the week on Monday.
The 5-foot-11 junior quarterback accounted for six touchdowns for the second straight week in a 45-14 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday.
The 2016 Mililani alumnus, who was also named the Walter Camp Award national player of the week and was a Davey O’Brien Great Eight honoree, threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 51 yards and two more scores.
Milton passed current Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles for fourth all-time at UCF in passing touchdowns and has thrown at least one TD pass in 18 straight games.
Milton has won seven AAC player of the week awards in the past two seasons.
UCF climbed another spot to No. 12 in the latest Associated Press Top 25.
Milton, who finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting last year, has accounted for 18 touchdowns and thrown for 1,223 yards in four games this season.
“Our best is still yet to come,” Milton said in a press conference Monday. “You always want to be better than yesterday. You might not always put up crazy numbers in each game, but if you can improve in an area I think in practice and try and translate that to the game, I think that’s the main thing.”
The Knights host SMU on Saturday at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Oklahoma sophomore and 2017 Campbell alumna Jocelyn Alo is one of 42 players selected to try out for the 2019 Women’s National Team.
The trials will be held Jan. 1-6 in Clearwater, Fla. Participating athletes will vie for 18 spots on the 2019 USA Softball Women’s National Team Training Team roster that will compete at the USA Softball International Cup and other international events.
The roster will be trimmed to 15 for the Pan American Games, July 31-Aug. 11 in Lima, Peru.

Pittsburgh’s Akeo candidate for award
Pittsburgh senior Kamalani Akeo was named one of 30 candidates for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award on Monday.
The 2015 Kamehameha alumna is a team captain for the undefeated eighth-ranked Panthers volleyball team. She has started all 15 matches this season and is averaging 7.0 assists per set while splitting time with a second setter.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
“Kama has been a huge part of building this program over the last four seasons,” Pitt coach Dan Fisher said in a press release. “She is a great setter and represents Pitt with class and humility. She is one of the hardest workers of anyone I have coached and excels at everything she does.”
Adachi leads Seattle into rankings
Five straight wins with senior goalkeeper Josh Adachi, a 2014 ‘Iolani alumnus, in goal has put the Seattle University men’s soccer team into the national rankings.
The Redhawks are No. 25 in both the United Soccer Coaches NCAA D-I men’s rankings and the Top Drawer Soccer NCAA D-I men’s rankings released this week.
Seattle is 8-3 overall and 2-1 in Western Athletic Conference play, with Adachi starting and playing every minute in goal this season.
The 6-foot-3 redshirt senior has tallied four shutouts, including three in the past four games, and is allowing just 1.18 goals per season while stopping 65 percent of all shots on goal.
One of those shutouts was a 2-0 win over Washington last Sunday, which was ranked No. 16 at the time.
SU has advanced to the NCAA tournament in three of the past five years and made a run to the sweet 16 in 2015.
Adachi helped the Redhawks win the WAC tournament last season and advance to the second round.
