Five people were injured— one man critically — in a single-vehicle Likelike Highway crash Wednesday that police said involved alcohol.
Police said a sport utility vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man was Kaneohe-bound near 45-1500 Likelike Highway when he lost control and struck a center guardrail at about 11 p.m. The vehicle flipped over several times and came to rest on the Honolulu-bound lanes of the roadway. The driver and three passengers were taken to a hospital in good condition, but a 24-year-old man seated in the rear of the vehicle was treated by Emergency Medical Services paramedics and transported in critical condition.

Babysitter accused of child sex assault died from gunshot
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said Thursday that a 43-year-old Honolulu man suspected of child sexual assault died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Jesse Puaa’s body was found Aug. 31 in Laie. The Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the manner of death — whether it is a homicide or suicide.
Puaa had allegedly sexually assaulted someone’s children while babysitting them on Aug. 18. The children later reported the incident to their father.
