Roosevelt beat Nanakuli 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-23 at Farrington to move on to the quarterfinals of the OIA girls volleyball tournament on Wednesday night.
Roosevelt will visit Kahuku today in the quarterfinals. The Red Raiders swept the Rough Riders 25-20, 25-19 during the regular season.
Nanakuli’s season ends a year after claiming the OIA’s Division II crown. The Golden Hawks finished with a 6-5 league record after being bumped up into the higher division.
Radford 3, Castle 0
The Rams survived a marathon of a third set to sweep the Knights 25-19, 25-23, 31-29 at Waianae.
Radford moves on to play OIA West champion Mililani on the Trojans’ floor at 7 p.m. today. The winner of that one earns a trip to the state tournament, while the loser has to fight its way through the consolation bracket. The Trojans have not missed a state tournament since 2006 while the Rams have not made the field in the highest division since 1995.
Mililani swept Radford 25-19, 25-18 at home during the regular season.
Farrington 3, Aiea 0
The Governors swept Na Alii 25-20, 26-24, 25-14 to earn a shot at Kapolei today at Kahuku.
Waianae 3, Kalaheo 0
The Seariders swept the Mustangs to earn a match against Moanalua today at Mililani.
Division II
McKinley 3, Pearl City 0
The Tigers swept the Chargers 25-12, 25-23, 25-20 to earn a date with East champion Kaiser with a trip to states on the line.
McKinley will visit Kaiser today at 7 p.m. The Cougars have not played at states since 2011 while the Tigers have been waiting since 2008.
Kailua 3, Waialua 0
The Surfriders had no problem with the Bulldogs, earning a 25-8, 25-11, 25-13 sweep.
Kailua moves on to play West champion Leilehua at Kaiser for a trip to the state tournament.
