While pumpkins may be the main feature at Aloun Farms’ Pumpkin Festival — Saturdays and Sundays in October on the farm’s Kapolei property — there is so much more to the annual fall celebration.
Presented by United Healthcare Community Plan and Ho‘opili, the festival features tractor hayrides, a petting zoo, carnival games, pony rides, a farmers market, a mini obstacle course, photo stations and more.
“Become a farmer for the day harvesting pumpkins, Ewa sweet corn, string beans and sunflowers,” said event coordinator Michael Moefu. “All harvest activities are staffed by our growers here from the farm and you’re welcome to ask them for growing and harvest tips.”
After working up an appetite from all the activities, grab a bite at the event, where you can choose from more than a dozen local food vendors, including 808 Burgers, S&S Thai Kitchen, Flo’s Kitchen and Angelo’s Malasadas.
“All our local vendors are encouraged to create pumpkin dishes to go with the festival’s theme and to use Aloun Farms products,” Moefu said.
