Needing to win to stay in the postseason hunt, the Hawaii Hilo women’s volleyball team took care of business on senior night, sweeping past Point Loma 25-20, 25-19, 26-24 on Saturday in Hilo.
Armani Moultrie led the Vulcans with a career-high 12 blocks, while Bria Beale had a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs.
Hilo improves to 19-6, and 15-4 in the PacWest, and is in sole possession of third place in the conference. The Vulcans must win their final three matches to advance to the playoffs.
>> The Chaminade women’s volleyball team saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end, falling 25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 24-26, 15-9 to Azusa Pacific (22-6, 18-2 PacWest) on Saturday at McCabe Gym.
Rachel Reedy had a career-high 20 kills for the Silverswords (21-5, 15-5 PacWest), while Emma Tecklenburg added 15.
UH men golfers move up to 16th
Cameron Kaneko posted a 1-under 71, helping the University of Hawaii move up one spot to 16th at the Kaanapali Classic Collegiate Invitational on Saturday at Royal Kaanapali Course on Maui.
Kaneko, who is in 30th, had an eagle on the par-5 No. 9 hole and three birdies.
Chaminade earns first winning season
The Chaminade men’s soccer team wrapped up its season with a 2-1 win over Hawaii Pacific at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium on Saturday.
The Silverswords finish 6-5-2 overall, and 5-4-2 in the PacWest, the program’s first-ever winning season.
Noah Mokulehua scored the first goal in the 33rd minute, connecting off a feed from Reece Hambley, his eighth of the season. In the 82nd minute, Tyler Ebisuya added an insurance goal, scoring off an assist from Micah Mokulehua.
Makana Srivongsana scored in the 85th minute for HPU (6-10, 4-7 PacWest).

The Sharks finish 6-6-6 and 4-3-4 in the PacWest. The Silverswords end at 1-12-1 and 0-10-1 in the PacWest.
