The Islandwide Christmas Crafts & Food Expo, with more than 400 local vendors, continues today and Sunday at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
The holiday craft fair, in its 32nd year, is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Friday was the first day for the fair.
More than 20,000 shoppers are expected to attend the weekend event, which promises cash and prize giveaways worth more than $10,000. The exposition, which has been operating annually since 1987, will also have live music from local entertainers.
General admission is $6, $5 for 65 years and older and military, free for those 12 and younger.
Adults want cozy, kids want gross: 4 trends to watch
NEW YORK >> Cozy sweaters and soft pajamas are in for adults. Kids, meanwhile, are asking for board games featuring fake poop and pimples. Those are just some of the trends expected this holiday season, when shoppers are projected to spend as much as $720 billion, according to the National Retail Federation. Kohl’s, for example, is pushing soft sweaters and fuzzy mules. And gross-out games like Pimple Pete are popular.
GM under investigation for faulty brake vacuum pumps
Regulators are investigating poor brake performance on 2.7 million GM pickups and SUVs. The NHTSA has received reports of nine crashes and two injuries.
Nissan board fires Ghosn as chairman following arrest
TOKYO >> Nissan has fired Carlos Ghosn as chairman in a dramatic end to the powerful executive’s nearly two-decade reign at the Japanese automaker. The company says its own investigation detected serious misconduct, including underreporting of Ghosn’s income and misuse of company assets. Nissan Motor Co. said its board of directors met for several hours Thursday and voted unanimously to dismiss Ghosn. Prosecutors say he is suspected of underreporting $44.6 million in income from 2011 to 2015.

Chamber of Commerce Hawaii has announced the following three new staff members:
>> Ben Sugg is the new director of membership engagement and outreach. He previously served as an account manager for Pacific Office Automation in Denver. Sugg also served in the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry Executive Advocacy Program.
>> Reiko Suzuki is the new manager of communications. She will assist with the organizing, planning and execution of the chamber’s special-events program and communications strategy. Suzuki previously served as Finance Factor’s senior loan marketing specialist as well as a marketing assistant for Kahala Mall.
>> Ashley Vega has been named the new membership services coordinator. She will provide services in support of the membership team and chamber members as well as assist with internal functions such as office administration and accounting. Vega has 10 years of sales and customer service experience, including as supervisor for Paradise Cruises.
