A fire at an Aiea home caused an estimated $280,000 in damage Thursday.
The fire was reported at 7:24 a.m. at a Pono Street residence by a passer-by who smelled smoke. The Honolulu Fire Department dispatched six units staffed with 22 personnel. The fire was brought under control at 7:33 a.m. and fully extinguished by 7:43 a.m.
Fire investigators classified the cause of the fire as undetermined due to a lack of specific evidence in the area where the fire is believed to have started.
Damage was estimated at $240,00 to the structure and $40,000 to its contents.
The three occupants were not at home at the time of the fire.
