A 35-year-old man who died in a backhoe accident in Hauula has been identified as Nathan A. Shaw of Laie.
Shaw died of blunt force injuries to his torso, according to the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office. The manner of death was classified as an accident.
Honolulu fire spokesman Capt. Scot Seguirant said a mechanic later identified as Shaw was working on a backhoe at 54-154 Hauula Homestead Road when he became pinned between the backhoe and its bucket at approximately 1:25 p.m. Sunday. He was taken in critical condition to a hospital where he later died.
