Kailuans are proving to be tough to convince that the era of Pali Lanes has ended. Well, perhaps it hasn’t. Various schools and industry groups are looking into it.
One study, “Future of Bowling: Five Key Bowling Industry Trends” from the University of Northern Iowa, notes that many bowling alleys have switched from leagues to largely recreational bowling. They’re moving from rural to suburban and urban centers, and many have broadened into “family entertainment’ attractions.
Landlord Alexander & Baldwin Inc. has given it another year to examine such options, but is not yet bowled over.
