Prosecutors have charged a 43-year-old man in connection with a New Year’s Day stabbing involving a 74-year-old man in Waialua.
A preliminary hearing for Marc J. Fiege is set for Monday after he was charged Wednesday with second-
degree attempted murder. He is being held at the Oahu Community Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Police responded to the stabbing that occurred on Kukea Circle during the early morning hours on Tuesday.
Court documents said
a woman received two
voice messages from her ex-boyfriend later identified as Fiege on Monday night. He allegedly threatened her and her 74-year-old father and told them he was coming to their home.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, the woman and her father saw Fiege standing outside of their backyard gate on Kukea Circle.
Police said the woman’s father attempted to hold
the gate shut when Fiege reached over and attempted to cut him with a pocketknife.
Fiege allegedly broke through the gate, wrestled the man to the ground and stabbed him three times, twice in the arm and once in the chest.
The victim sustained
deep punctures and lacerations to his left upper arm and left side of his chest. He was taken in serious condition to The Queen’s Medical
Center.
Police said Fiege fled on foot but that officers located him at the intersection of Waialua Beach Road and Komo Street and arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder.
The attack occurred more than a month after a yearlong protective order against Fiege expired in
November.
Court records show his ex-girlfriend had filed a temporary restraining order against him in November 2017.
