Ewa Beach’s Lowen Tynanes ended a 33-month layoff with a first-round TKO of Honorio Banario in the quarterfinals of the One Lightweight World Grand Prix on Friday in Manila.
Tynanes, a two-time state wrestling champion, drove Banario to the mat with a single-leg takedown and quickly took a mounted crucifix position and pounded Bonario with punches and elbows to earn the stoppage.
Tynanes improved to 10-0 overall and 6-0 in One Championship. He missed the better part of three years to recover from a significant back injury.
His fight was the co-main event of One: Hero’s Ascent, which ended with Brazil’s Adriano Moraes winning a unanimous decision over Geje Eustaquio to claim the One flyweight world title.
