The Coast Guard is asking for the public’s help in identifying the owner of an unoccupied kayak found adrift 100 yards off Bellows Beach near Lanikai on Sunday.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew launched a search of the area and issued an urgent marine information broadcast notice. There were no reports of missing persons in the area. Storm and high-surf warnings remain in effect for all of the main Hawaiian Islands, and Coast Guard officials are reminding watercraft owners to take their gear off the beach, secure their items and write their names and phone numbers on them.
