Wide-ranging changes have come to the 69th annual Jennie K. Wilson Invitational, set for May 17-19 at Mid-Pacific Country Club.
Registration forms are available at mpcchi.org and feature a new look for young and old.
A senior flight will be contested for the first time in Hawaii’s lone remaining women’s major. That flight is open to women 70 and older (as of May 1) and they will play 36 holes (Friday and Sunday).
At the other end of the spectrum, Hawaii juniors 18-under — who have dominated Jennie K. the past 25 years — can play now for just $75. That’s $150 off the regular fee.
The tournament is looking for a field of 120 amateur women, ages 16 and older, with a handicap of 23 or less (effective May 1 at MPCC). Golfers of any age, with a handicap index of 4.0 or less, can play in the championship flight. There are six flights, including seniors.
Regular entry fee is $225 and $200 for seniors. That includes a practice round May 13.
High school golfers from Japan have won the past three years — Kaira Nabeshima in 2016 and Natsumi Nakanishi the past two years.
