The Coast Guard on Wednesday evening suspended its four-day search for missing mariner Matthew Moribe.
The 39-year-old fell overboard while fishing Sunday with his wife of one month, Cherie Uchida-Moribe. They were on the 18-foot pleasure craft Amie C II.
The couple was 24 miles south of Oahu.
Uchida-Moribe told the Coast Guard she went into the cabin to retrieve a life vest, but when she emerged, Moribe was nowhere in sight.
The Coast Guard searched 3,600 square miles, using a helicopter, boats, a C-130 plane and an auxiliary aircraft.
The Navy also provided a helicopter, and at least eight good-Samaritan boats helped in the search.
