The market for condominiums outdid that of single-family homes on Maui last month.
A Realtors Association of Maui report said the number of sales and median price for Maui condos rose by double-digit figures in March. That compared with a modest decline in sales and a modest increase to the median price for single-family homes on the Valley Isle.
There were 154 condo sales in March, up 21% from 127 sales in the same month a year earlier. The median price rose 13% to $508,500 from $450,000 in the same period.
Single-family home sales dipped 5% to 96 last month from 101 a year earlier while the median price edged up 5% to $712,718 from $680,000.
The report counts new and previously owned home sales that closed in March.
The median price is a point at which half the sales are for more and half for less. This measure can be swayed by the location, age, quality and size of homes in cases were relatively few sales are involved and new homes are included in the mix.
