Junior Elyse Lemay-Lavoie of the University of Hawaii women’s water polo team has been named the Big West Player of the Week, announced on Wednesday.
Lemay-Lavoie scored four goals for the Rainbow Wahine last Saturday in the regular-season finale, helping the fifth-ranked ’Bows defeat No. 11 UC Santa Barbara 15-9. With the win, Hawaii clinched at least a share of the Big West regular-season championship.
The ’Bows will next head to the Big West Championship in Long Beach, Calif., where they will have a first-round bye. They will next play in the semifinals April 27. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.
