The University of Hawaii women’s sailing team took fifth place at the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference women’s championship hosted by USC on Saturday off the waters of Long Beach, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine, who totaled 89 points, were just one point shy of qualifying for the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association Women’s Nationals.
Stanford won the regatta with 55 points, followed by UC Santa Barbara and USC with 69 points each and California placing fourth with 88 points. Those four schools will represent the PCCSC at next month’s nationals on the East Coast.
Annika Garrett and Megan Lucas led UH in the A division, placing third with 41 points. Hayden Lahr, Shelby Hastings and Paige Sullivan finished sixth in the B division with 68 points.
For her efforts all year long, Garrett earned all-conference skipper honors.
