A luau to benefit the championship Waialua High & Intermediate School robotics team takes place May 9, to raise funds for student travel to international competitions.
Castle & Cooke Properties has hosted the fundraiser at its Dole Plantation since 2007, raising $110,000 for the team in those years.
Waialua has one of the oldest and most successful robotics programs in the state. The school’s student teams are frequent winners of the annual FIRST Robotics Competition Hawaii Regional.
Tickets are $50, available at Dole Plantation, from robotics team members or by calling Waialua’s robotics’ director Glenn Lee at 637-8292.
The evening will include a demonstration by students of their robotic technology, a silent auction and entertainment by Lehua Kalima and Shawn Pimental.
