The state Health Department has posted a red “closed” placard at Paddlers Restaurant and Bar in Kaunakakai, Molokai.
The department said it issued the red placard to protect public health due to pest infestation and maintenance issues found at the restaurant located at 10 Mohala St.
On Tuesday, the state conducted an inspection of the restaurant in response to a complaint as well as earlier violations, and found signs of extensive roach infestation in the kitchen area, in food, on gloves and other items used in food preparation.
The closure of Paddlers Restaurant and Bar and the suspension of its food service permit will remain in effect until the establishment passes a follow-up health inspection and receives state approval to reopen.
