The Hawaii softball team concluded its 2019 season with a 5-1 loss to UC Davis on senior night Friday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Davis ace Brooke Yanez was on her game, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning before UH center fielder Brittnee Rossi hit an opposite-field home run to left to break it up. But that would be the only hit recorded for the Rainbow Wahine (33-16, 14-7 Big West), who finished the conference season in second place.
UH coach Bob Coolen started his seven seniors — pitcher Brittany Hitchcock, third baseman Nicole Lopez, second baseman Alyssa Sojka, left fielder Jennifer Iseri, catcher Heather Cameron, first baseman Carly Pina and designated player Jenna Kumabe.
Maddie Rojas cranked a third-inning grand slam for the Aggies (39-14, 13-9), who finished in third. Yanez improved to 25-7 this season, while Hitchcock dropped to 20-8.
