A $10,000 reward is being offered for the safe return of Amanda Eller, a Maui hiker who has been missing for more than four days.
Eller, who was reported missing after she failed to return home on Thursday, was last seen at her Haiku home at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Police found Eller’s white Toyota Rav 4 Thursday at 9:50 a.m. in the parking lot of the Makawao Forest Reserve near Kahakapao Trail, where the fire department had spotted it the day before. Eller’s wallet and cell phone were in the car, and her running shoes were not.
Police said that the 35-year-old Eller is 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She frequently runs in the area where her car was found. According to a missing poster, those searching for Eller are concerned that she may have gotten lost or injured or met with foul play.
Volunteers and first responders, using tracking dogs, have been searching for Eller. Experienced off-trail hikers, climbers, rappellers are encouraged to assist in the search. Updates are available at the Findamanda Facebook page.
Anyone with information about Eller’s whereabouts is asked to call the Maui Police Department at 244-6400 or 911.
