The University of Hawaii’s 4×100-meter relay team placed third in 46.70 seconds at the Big West Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine scored 37 points to finish eighth in the team standings.
Members of the 4×100 team were Martina Latting, Raion Black, Natasha Currence and Britney Price.
Hawaii’s Kristen LaCosse placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (58.83) and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.16), and Meg Jackson finished seventh in the shot put (42 feet, 2 inches).
Hawaii Hilo’s Jared Kinoshita finishes tied for 79th
Hawaii Hilo senior Jared Kinoshita shot a 7-over-par 79 on Saturday to finish tied for 79th at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional in St. George, Utah.
Kinoshita finished at 9-over 225 at The Ledges Golf Course.
Colorado Christian’s Chase Carlson won the individual title with a 204 and Dixie State claimed the team title with a 17-under 847.
Mufi Hannemann to speak at Honolulu Quarterback Club
Mufi Hannemann, the head coach and founder of Team Aloha — Elite Women’s Basketball Team, will speak at the Honolulu Quarterback Club on Monday at Maple Garden Restaurant.
Hannemann, who served as mayor of Honolulu, is president and CEO of the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association.
In April, Team Aloha won its second consecutive title at the Elite Is Earned Spring Invitational girls basketball tournament in Walnut Creek, Calif.
The luncheon, which costs $17, will start at 11:30 a.m. and the program at noon.
