Atlas Insurance Agency Inc., Hawaii’s largest insurance agency, established in 1929, announced Tuesday the acquisition of local insurance company Insurance Advantage. The acquisition furthers Atlas’ goal to grow its market share and presence in Hawaii.
“Insurance Advantage is a local insurance agency with a strong reputation and commitment to service excellence,” Atlas Insurance Agency President Chason Ishii said. “Additionally, Insurance Advantage brings the necessary experience level and expertise to fuel capacity for our aggressive organic growth goals.”
As part of the acquisition, Atlas will bring on board four employees, including former principals Van Nakashima and Curtis Nishiyama from Insurance Advantage, and a book of over 200 accounts. The new employees from Insurance Advantage will join Atlas at the agency’s new office in Honolulu’s City Financial Tower in mid-July.

KYA Inc. has announced that William Reihmann recently returned to KYA Inc. as a senior project designer. He was previously working for Perkins + Will’s office in Denver. Currently, Reihmann oversees the Pacific Region Training and Research Center at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole as well as Baggage Handling Improvements, Phase 2, at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.
The Queen’s Health Systems has named Tamara Pappas the new director of Ambulatory Services Planning. She previously was director of the Center for Outcomes Research & Evaluation. Prior to Queen’s, she served for 10 years at Hawaii Pacific Health and later worked as their director of Quality Operations.
