Honolulu is the nation’s best small city (metro population under 1 million) in the “2019 America’s Best Cities Report,” put out by Resonance Consultancy. We topped, in descending order, Omaha, Neb.; Charleston, S.C.; Albuquerque, N.M.; and Tulsa, Okla.
Resonance Consultancy, which bills itself as “leading advisers in tourism, real estate and economic development,” scored cities on metrics from locals and visitors in six core categories: place, product, programming, people, prosperity and promotion.
Among big cities, it was New York, Chicago, then Los Angeles. Big or small, though, Honolulu no ka oi.
Uber for helicopters? No thanks
Really? The world needs ride hailing … calling all helicopters?
Apparently Uber Technologies thinks it does, at least in New York City, according to plans unearthed by Bloomberg. The planned service targets the uber-wealthy who will use the app for chopper rides from JFK International to Wall Street.
Let’s hope this service remains a niche market for the rich and doesn’t migrate over to the tour helicopter market. We’ve had enough to worry about with copter rides going wrong — in a big way.
