    Hundreds of travelers wait on the pavement and outside the departure drop off area of Terminal 2 at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on Tuesday. Hawaii Department of Transportation officials said a detailed review of the incident found that the external battery charger overheated and melted a foam neck pillow in a traveller’s carry-on luggage to produce smoke.

Synopsis: Lithium ion batteries are recognized as being somewhat unstable. The incident at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, however, shows that we travelers are not prepared to handle such emergencies. Read more
