The local owner of 16 neighbor island radio stations is branching out to Oahu in a deal to buy four stations.
Maui-based Pacific Media Group said it has an agreement to buy “Da Bomb” KDDB 102.7 FM, KUMU 94.7 FM, “Da Pa‘ina” KQMQ 93.1 FM and KPOI 105.9 FM from Ohana Broadcast Co. LLC.
The purchase, for $5.5 million, is scheduled to close Sept. 1, according to Pacific Media CEO Chuck Bergson.
Ohana Broadcast, managed by California-based Hot Lava Holdings, said it has grown its four stations tremendously and is excited for further growth under Pacific Media, according to a statement from Terry Gillingham, Ohana’s regional vice president and general manager.
The Honolulu radio station deal follows Pacific Media buying four radio stations on Kauai from Ohana in October.
Pacific Media, which previously was known as Lahaina Broadcasting Co. and later Pacific Radio Group, also owns six stations on Maui, six on Hawaii island and two online media properties: Maui Now and Big Island Now.
