It’s rare for a fighter to have two fights lined up consecutively, but that’s exactly what faces Angela Lee.
Less than two weeks out from her strawweight bout against Michelle Nicolini in the co-main event of One: Masters of Destiny on July 12 in Kuala Lumpur, the Mililani alumna has been booked to defend her atomweight world title in a rematch against Xiong Jing Nan at One Championship’s 100th event in Tokyo on Oct. 13.
Lee suffered her first professional defeat in a fifth-round TKO against Jing Nan in March while challenging for the 125-pound world championship.
Now Jing Nan will drop down in weight to 115 pounds to challenge Lee for her title.
The organization is stacking its 100th fight card — titled One: Century — at Ryogoku Kokugikan, where Jing Nan defeated Lee in One’s debut event in Japan.
Other title fights announced are light heavyweight champion Aung La Nsang defending his belt against heavyweight champion Brandon Vera and bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes against Kevin Belingon.
In addition to fight night, One will host the inaugural World Marital Arts Week in Tokyo, kicking off with the One Martial Arts Fan Fest on Oct. 5-6.
