Singer/songwriter Elijah Sky is following up on last year’s debut album, “Heart Over Hype,” with this download-only single that was officially released on June 21. Afro-Caribbean rhythms propel an autobiographical account of life in Hawaii that includes fishing, surfing, parties in the backyard, and time to “hang out and cruise with my cousins.”
Sky shares more than a shopping list of good times in the islands.
“Aloha is the blood of the place we call home, and we got to embrace it,” he proclaims. “You’ve got to feel it within. The spirit of Aloha. Can you feel it?”
The music is not what most mainlanders think of when they imagine “Ha-wy-yuh,” but the message that Sky delivers with the song makes “Aloha Story” a perfect theme for a visitor industry advertising campaign.
