Thirty Meter Telescope demonstrations spark political unease

    Protesters continued their opposition Friday to the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope on Mauna Kea. Pua Case spoke of being and staying safe in their nonviolent direct action during her morning address.

Gov. David Ige has been reluctant to this point to give the go-ahead for the mass arrests that would likely be required to clear the road to the construction site. But on Friday afternoon he signaled he was not backing off. Read more
