Leia Chung continued her run, winning the Girls 13-14 championship by nine shots Tuesday at the 10th annual Dave & Buster’s Junior Classic.
The reigning state high school champion, about to start her sophomore year at Leilehua, fired rounds of 72-77 at gusty Ewa Beach Golf Club.
In June, Chung finished seventh at the National Invitational High School Championship in Florida. She was the only 14-year old in the top 10.
Shayna Lu (78—154) captured the Girls 15-18 title Tuesday. Boys winners were Skylor Taylor (79—154) in 13-14s and Marshall Kim Jr. (72—148) in 15-18s.
Kanno finishes 22nd in Canada
Hilo’s Isaiah Kanno was the only Hawaii golfer to finish in the top 35 at last week’s 47th Junior America’s Cup team event, played in Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada.
Utah and San Diego were named co-champions in the 18-team international field after tying for first at 4-over par. Hawaii was 11th, 30 shots back.
Kanno tied for 22nd individually, at 8 over.
