Oahu subscribers are being offered a reduction and neighbor island customers face an increase in price to watch University of Hawaii football on Spectrum pay-per-view this season.

The seven-game pay-per-view schedule begins with the Sept. 7 game against Oregon State.

Historically, Oahu subscribers have been charged a higher rate in part because it has been more difficult for fans away from Oahu to attend games at Aloha Stadium. A Spectrum spokeswoman said 77 percent of its PPV customers were on Oahu last season.

But this year Spectrum customers on all islands will be charged the same rate, which means Oahu subscribers will pay $349.99 for the seven-game package instead of the $405 that was charged for seven games in 2018. Meanwhile, neighbor island customers will pay the $349.99 rather than the $245 they were charged in 2018.

The single game charge is $69.99. Last year Oahu subscribers paid $75 while neighbor island viewers were charged $45.

Spectrum will again offer a two-game package of road games for $69.98 that is available only to UH season-ticket holders. It was not offered on the neighbor islands last year.

There is no longer an “early bird” discount for early orders, Spectrum said.

Under terms of its contract, UH is to receive at least $2,539,386 from Spectrum this year for the seven-game package, an increase of nearly $50,000 over 2018. It is the final year of the current agreement that ends June 30, 2020.

In addition to PPV in Hawaii, Spectrum said it and the Mountain West Conference will offer UH fans outside the state access to live streams on the MWC app, available on mobile phones and tablets.

Spectrum said it will begin taking PPV orders Tuesday at 643-2337. Individual game purchases can be made on channels 1255 (HD) or 255 (SD) beginning on Monday the week before each game.
