Overcoming adversity, Waipahu High School students produce peaceful Japanese garden

    Waipahu High School students and their Japanese language teacher Tanya Harris designed and built a Japanese Zen rock garden over the course of the last school year. Elliah Herradura, his brother Eleazar Herradura and Jett Palacpac pulled weeds last month as part of the upkeep of the garden.

    Japanese language teacher Will Smith helped students put up additional bamboo fencing around the garden last month as teacher Tanya Harris looked on.
