The Chaminade volleyball team won two matches Saturday at the Hawaii Invitational to improve to 4-0 for the season.
Rachel Reedy had 11 kills and Latasia Saulala added nine along with five blocks as the Silverswords defeated Minot State 25-14, 25-21, 25-15 at McCabe Gym.
In the second match, Emma Tecklenburg had 13 kills and Reedy added eight in Chaminade’s 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 win over Chico State at McCabe Gym.
Hawaii Hilo went 1-1 on Saturday.
Alexandria Parisian had 11 kills and Ashton Jessee contributed four aces and nine blocks as Hawaii Hilo beat West Virginia State 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-14 at St. Francis gym.
In the Vulcans’ first match, Emily Wade finished with nine kills and Kendall Kott had 26 assists, but the Vulcans lost to Sonoma State 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 at McCabe Gym.
Cameryn Collie had 12 kills and Casey Davenport recorded 24 assists, but Hawaii Pacific lost to Sonoma State 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 at St Francis.
The Warriors’ match against Minot State ended past the deadline for this edition.
U.S. takes silver at NORCECA tournament
The U.S. men’s national team, with Punahou graduate Micah Ma’a at setter, lost to Cuba in Saturday’s gold-medal match of the NORCECA Continental Championship in Winnipeg, Canada.
Ma’a, the team captain, had two kills and two blocks in the 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20 loss, the U.S.’s first of the event. Former Hawaii All-America setter Joe Worsley was a serving sub in Sets 1, 2 and 4, and Warriors junior libero Gage Worsley did not play.
