Hawaii surfer Carissa Moore wins big at home with crowd

    Hawaii fans celebrated Carissa Moore's victory as the four-time world surfing champion and first-time Olympic surfing designee.

                                Carissa Moore came back to Oahu after clinching her fourth World Surfing League championship title at Honolua Bay, Maui, on Monday. She also secured her place on the U.S. surf team for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Moore was photographed Wednesday in front of the Duke Kahanamoku statue in Waikiki after chatting with fans.

Waikiki, the ancient cradle of surfing, was recharged with youthful energy Wednesday morning as a cheering crowd greeted Carissa Moore, who was crowned world surfing champion on Maui two days before, who stood smiling, head and shoulders garlanded with lei, beside the towering, flower-decked statue of srufing legend Duke Kahanamoku with his longboard.
