Cattle graze on former sugar cane lands at Kulolio Ranch, an operation started by Alexander & Baldwin but now run by Mahi Pono LLC, which just acquired majority ownership in the Maui Cattle Co. cooperative.
Mahi Pono’s cattle operation on the lower slopes of Haleakala has grown to 1,400 animals on 5,000 acres, and is projected to reach 2,000 animals by the end of the year.
