A local television show about wine and the “wine lifestyle” goes live tonight on KITV.
“Wine & …” will feature Chris Ramelb, director of wine education at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, and co-hosts Halia Parish and Moani Hara meeting experts in various other fields to share a drink that Ramelb has selected for the occasion.
“We’ll have guests on who are masters of their craft, talk to them and get drunk, basically,” Ramelb said. “I try to talk a little about wine and find some reason why I picked and curated these bottles for this specific subject that we’re talking about.”
The guest for the first episode is Shelley Cramer, vice president and general manager of Saks Fifth Avenue Waikiki, for whom Ramelb was able to find a wine that had a similar smell to a fragrance the department store carries.
Future episodes will feature Dave Moss, executive director of the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra, and Julie Sorenson, creative director for the Honolulu Design Center, as well as an show on “wine and drag,” which features a “fun, pink, bubbly sweet wine that was low on alcohol” that could be enjoyed while applying makeup, Ramelb said.
“We try to make connections, but it’s all under the pretense of making learning about wine fun,” Ramelb said.
The show premieres at 9 p.m. today, and future episodes will air at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays. Longer versions of the episodes, which will include more “risque” sections of the discussions, can be accessed through the show’s website, wineand.org.
