Off the News: Wonderfully clean, quiet buses

Kudos to Honolulu Hale for rolling forward with ambitious plans to reshape the city’s TheBus fleet to zero-emission vehicles by 2035. Last week, Mayor Kirk Caldwell showed off the first of 17 electric buses expected to be shipped here over the next year. The new fume-free and relatively quiet 38-seat ride will soon be deployed on routes based at the Ka­lihi-Palama Bus Facility.

Aligning with the state clean energy mandate to generate 100% of electricity sales from renewable resources within the next 25 years, Hawaii’s counties have committed to transforming public and private ground transportation to 100% renewable fuel sources.
