Coast Guard, firefighters rescue 2 men after cargo plane crashes in ocean off Kalaeloa

The Coast Guard received a report of a downed cargo plane in the water approximately 2 to 4 miles south of Kalaeloa at about 1:40 a.m.

A U.S. Coast Guard cutter patrolled the area to monitor debris from the cargo plane that crashed Friday off Kalaeloa.

                                The U.S. Coast Guard and Honolulu Fire Department rescued two people Friday morning from a downed Boeing 737 interisland transport plane 2 miles south of Kalaeloa. Both men aboard were rescued by an Air Station Barbers Point MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and Honolulu Fire Department rescue boat and brought to awaiting medical services.
