Mililani’s Allysha Mae Mateo shot a round of even-par 72 on Tuesday to tie for sixth in the stroke-play portion of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in Rye, N.Y.
Mateo, a Maryknoll graduate and rising senior at BYU, posted a two-round total of 1-under 143 and will be the seventh seed in the 64-player match-play bracket. She will face No. 58 Rianne Mikhaela Malixi of the Philippines today in the first round at Westchester Country Club.
Former Hawaii resident Aneka Seumanutafa finished stroke play at even-par 144 and secured the 13th seed in match play.
Malia Nam of Kailua shot a 72 to get into a 12-player playoff for the final two spots in the bracket at 6 over. Jensen Castle and Marissa Wenzler birdied the par-3 first hole to advance.
