Hawaii Kai Elite opened the 13U Babe Ruth World Series with a 17-4 loss to Eau Clare, Wis., on Sunday in Jamestown, N.Y.
Hawaii Kai took a 4-1 lead in the third inning, but Eau Clare stormed back over the next two innings and ended the game in the sixth. Hawaii Kai continues pool play today against West Fargo, N.D. at 5:30 a.m.
Team Central to Legion World Series semi
Hawaii’s Team Central survived a tiebreaker to advance to the semifinals at the American Legion World Series in Shelby, N.C.
The semifinal matchups will be finalized today with the completion of a rain-delayed game between Beverly, Mass., and Idaho Falls, Id. Team Central is scheduled to play at 10 a.m. Hawaii time.
Team Central finished pool play at 2-1 and tied with Tupelo, Miss., and Ridge, Md., in the Stars Division. The first tiebreaker was fewest runs allowed and Team Central and Tupelo surrendered seven in pool play. Ridge’s total rose to nine runs allowed in a 5-3 win over Fargo, N.D., on Sunday. Tupelo handed Team Central its first loss of the summer with a 4-0 win on Saturday.
