In 1969 the 50th State Fair was held at the 35-acre Magic Island, which at the time was a desolate dirt parking lot.
In 1940, Sears had an X-ray machine in its shoe department that allowed people to see the skeleton of their foot.
Before we became the 50th state, we had a 49th State Fair. When it began in the 1930s, it was called the Hawaiian Product Show.
