Hefty subsidies continue for Hawaii’s state-run hospitals

                                Maui Memorial Medical Center, the island’s only acute-care hospital, was transferred to Kaiser Permanente in 2017. The transfer of the hospital, along with its affiliates in Kula and on Lanai, was projected to save the state about $260 million over the following 10 years.
