Navy water system sees increase in tap water, air quality complaints

                                The Red Hill water crisis began in November 2021, when fuel from the Navy’s underground Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility leaked into the Navy’s Oahu water system, affecting 93,000 people who live in housing areas that use the water system. The U.S. Navy, working with contractors, flushed water lines at the Pearl City Peninsula military housing neighborhood in December 2021. Water that was passed through filtration was emptied onto a field during the process of pumping groundwater into filtration tanks.
