Prison work furlough participants are hardworking, on time and subject to strict procedures from the furlough authority. They attend apprentice classes on some evenings and Saturdays in addition to their normal working day, and class time is without pay. This furlough program is a good way for these people to transition back into the community.
Yes, there may be a few who bail, but the program is necessary and positive.
I will continue to hire these furlough inmates when I need additional workers. Having employees who are on the furlough program from the state prison has been a positive experience, and I will continue my support.
