Most people don’t need a nudge to stay away from the part of Central Oahu Regional Park where debris from the Kona-low storms had been stowed. But the city does want to be transparent about any remaining toxicity from the flooding trash — 288 truckloads were piled there after the second storm hit on March 23.
So there is a website worth a visit (honolulu.gov/ENV/TDSR) to learn the results of soil testing beneath the dump site. The documents posted are not an easy read, but scrolling to read the “Conclusions” section will help. Anyway, the city will issue an all-clear when the field’s safe.
