In response to the letter, “Christian beliefs form foundation of America,” nowhere did our founding fathers specifically identify a religion or God from which our laws, Constitution and institutions are to be structured (Star-Advertiser, July 10). They strategically avoided this after the scourge of religious conflict in Europe. We as Americans can worship whomever, or whatever, we wish, or worship no entity at all.
Christians must stop pushing their theological beliefs on our society as if these beliefs are law, and allow our secular country to flourish as codified in the First Amendment to the Constitution, which requires freedom of (and from) religion and the separation of church and state.
