In its July edition, the editors of Rolling Stone magazine revealed their choices of songs to represent each U.S. state, in honor of America’s semiquincentennial celebration.
For example, Arizona got “Take It Easy” by The Eagles because the town of Winslow is mentioned. The choice for Hawaii was spot-on perfect: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World” by Israel “Iz” Kamakawiwo‘ole, a song beloved in Hawaii and globally. Hawaii no ka oi.
