I see Hawaiian Electric is quick to say over the news it is not at fault if customers’ food spoils due to lack of electricity during a hurricane. Maybe HECO should be putting its transmission lines underground to prevent them from being damaged. We homeowners have no means to bury electricity lines.
I know undergrounding costs a lot, but maybe Oahu shouldn’t have put so much money into a rail that serves about 20,000 people. We are talking about tens of thousands losing power and some still have no electricity from Tropical Storm Lala, which hit more than a week ago. We need to take care of our basic essentials first, like water, sewer and electricity.
